COVID-19 Church Update – 26 March 2020

From Jason Staben, On behalf of Pastor Jeff and the church leadership.

1 Thessalonians 1: 2-5 (ESV)

We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.

Dear Church Family

On behalf of Pastor Jeff and the church leadership, I want to encourage you in the Lord Jesus Christ. Our hope is not in any earthly thing, but in Christ alone. The world is in turmoil, but as Christians, we have a firm foundation. We have been chosen in Christ and commissioned to reach out to this world with his love.

Let me state the obvious: ‘Church’ as we know it has changed, but remember the church has never been about a building. But its people.

We want you to know that the leadership is working hard to implement ways that our church community can meet virtually together, encourage one another, support one another and grow together through these unchartered times ahead. Our goal is that at the other end of this we are stronger in the Lord and bonded together in the love of Christ.

  • We are in the process of setting up online streaming for this Sunday, where we can connect together in real-time. For people who cannot do this, we will have other ways available for them to participate.
  • We are setting up a way to facilitate a virtual prayer network as a means for the body to pray together in unity even as we are physically apart.
  • Ps Jeff is starting a regular blog on the website and extra bible study tools will be available.
  • We are looking at ways that we can show the love of Christ to our community through practical ways.

This is just the beginning. In the weeks and months ahead we will actively look to build community and proclaim the gospel.

More details will be in the newsletter that will be sent out later today.

Blessings

Jason Staben
